Norfolk New Ducks AHL Affiliate (And You Thought Syracuse Was Far Away)

SB Nation doesn't own any rights to Admirals pictures, but some how has this picture of an actual Admiral. I'll take it.

The messy marriage that was the Syracuse Crunch and the Anaheim Ducks is now over ... for the most part.

Today, the Crunch announced that the Tampa Bay Lightning are now their new parent club. The Ducks have yet to make the official announcement, but it's 98.354% sure that the Norfolk (Virginia) Admirals will now be home to our Ducklings.

If you don't follow the AHL much, you might not know that the Admirals won this year's Calder Cup (Lord Stanley's less impressive cousin). The Admirals went on an impressive 28-game (!!!) win streak. Since the Ducks haven't made the official announcement, we can't verify if there will be any coaching changes. If Tampa is smart, they're not going to let us have the Admirals' bench boss.

In case you were wondering, per Google Maps, the distance from Anaheim, California to Norfolk, Virginia is approximately 2,702 miles. Slightly further than the 2,675 miles it takes to get to Syracuse. Hooray for frequent flyer miles!
