Admirals Start Flat and Can't Recover, Lose to WBS Penguins 4-1

After losing to Norfolk 4-1 Friday, the Baby Pens flipped the script last night, beating the Ads by the same score.

The only decent thing about this game, again.

Final Score: Admirals 1, Penguins 4

First Period Recap: The Admirals started off the game getting out-shot 16-8 in the first period and giving the Penguins three power play chances. The only exciting thing for Norfolk fans was a fight off the opening faceoff where Josh Brittain took on Alex Grant.. 13:21 into the period former Admiral Trevor Smith got his 14th goal of the season and his goalie, Jeff Zatkoff, recorded the only assist.

Second Period Recap: The Ads kind of woke up in the second period the teams each had ten shots on net. Unfortunately just forty-seven seconds into the period Beau Bennett put the Baby Pens up 2-0 with a power play goal. It took almost eleven minutes for the Admirals to respond but they eventually did. Patrick Maroon created a turnover on a penalty kill and got on a 2-on-0 breakaway with Peter Holland. Holland gets the short handed goal, his third special teams goal in four games, and 15th overall for the season. Luca Caputi "fought" Philip Samuelsson in this period for no real reason other than being frustrated I think.

Third Period Recap: In the final period the Admirals only had eight shots and couldn't do anything at all on their two power play chances. They ended the night going 0-for-5 with the extra man. Riley Hopzapfel put the Penguins up 3-1 10:23 into the period and Warren Peters scored an empty net goal with 1:02 remaining in the game.

The Good: There was over 7000 fans in attendance!

The Bad: Over 7000 fans got to see an embarrassing effort!

The Ugly: No real specific thing to choose, the entire game was ugly outside of the short handed goal by Holland.
