After a long week off, the Ducks return to action against the Colorado Avalanche tonight. Bruce Boudreau has tried to fill the void with grueling workouts, but nothing replaces the challenge of actually playing a game. Cam Fowler has returned to practice this week, but no one seems to know if he's actually playing tonight. Saku Koivu is also questionable with flu-like symptoms.
Even though the Avalanche have not played particularly well this season (the Ryan O'Reilly drama has not helped, I'm sure), they have their captain back. Yesterday's loss to the Kings was Gabriel Landeskog's first game since missing the previous 11 with a concussion. He's developing a reputation for giving the Ducks grief, having scored six points in his last four meetings with us. In order to beat the Avs tonight, he will need to be contained.
This game also comes with a little nostalgia. Jean-Sebastian Giguere will be starting in goal. Since The Trade, Giggy has been 2-1-0 against the Ducks with a 2.35 GAA.
And FYI: we lead the Pacific Division by six points, which is awesome. The Avs have a terrible road record (2-6-0). Once again, we should win this.
FOWL!
