Admirals Aftermath: Norfolk Splits the Weekend Series Against Providence

A look at the Ads' push weekend over the Providence Bruins.

TillDeath Creations

The Admirals took on the Providence Bruins in two games over the weekend. One was completely lopsided with the Ads never in it and in the other the Admirals fought hard to come back and win the game in the skills competition. With only one game left in the month of February I figured I'd do a recap of stats for the month after the game reviews.

Game Reviews
Game #1
Final Score: Norfolk 0, Providence 3
Goal scorers for Admirals: None
How'd our goalie do? Igor Bobkov's night ended after 16 saves on 19 shots, Frederik Andersen stopped all 13 shots he saw.
Numbers for Nerds: The Admirals let in two power play goals and one short handed goal in just two periods. Nate Guenin and Brandon McMillan led the team in shots with three. Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond (PL3) had 17 minutes of penalties including a five minute major for charging and a game misconduct.

Game #2
Final Score: Norfolk 3, Providence 2 (SO)
Goal scorers for Admirals: Dan Sexton (4 )PPG, Brandon McMillan (4)
How'd our goalie do? Andersen stopped 37 of 39 during the first 60 and allowed one goal in six rounds of the shootout.
Numbers for Nerds: Unlike the previous game the Admirals played good special teams scoring one power play goal and not allowing Providence to score on six power play chances including a five minute major. Emerson Etem had seven shots, Sexton five, and Guenin and Sami Vatanen had four each.
