Announced that the Mighty Ducks will play in the new arena in Anaheim, now known as the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. I came to terms, long ago, with the fact that Honda pays the Samuelis more than Arrowhead can, but if San Jose can be called "The Shark Tank" regardless of the actual arena's name, I'm still calling it "The Pond" Goddamnit.

Acquired RW Roman Oksiuta from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for C Mike Sillinger.

Peter LeBoutillier matched his own Ducks Rookie record with 30 penalty minutes in a 6-3 loss to Dallas. He originally set the record the previous season, but was still considered a rookie because he only played 23 games in 1996-97. In that same game, Joe Nieuwendyk matched Owen Nolan's record for most goals by an individual Ducks' opponent in a game with, what our friends at the Puck Podcast refer to as a Pants Trick, four goals.
