Final Score: Norfolk 1, Binghamton 5
First Period Recap: The game started off with 20 minutes of offense with both teams getting 13 shots on net. Sami Vatanen opened up the scoring with midway through the period with a power play goal, Luca Caputi and Nate Guenin got the assists. Less than a minute later Binghamton scored on a power play goal of their own with Mark Stone getting his ninth of the season. The Baby Sens went up 2-1 when Chris Wideman scored an even strength goal for his second of the year. The Admirals didn't finish the period strong and gave up a third goal with 29 seconds left in the period, Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored his 7th of the season. After the first, Ads down 3-1.
Second Period Recap: The second period was much slower on the scoring front with only one goal being scored. Although Norfolk out-shot Bingo 13-8 the Sens scored with 5:20 left in the period. Wacey Hamilton got his third of the season on an even strength goal. The Admirals killed two penalties and couldn't convert on one power play. Troy Bodie had a fight against Michael Sdao trying to jump start the Admirals but it didn't amount to anything.
Third Period Recap: Both teams peppered their opposing goalies with shots in the final period, Nathan Lawson stopped all 14 and Frederik Andersen only stopped 13 of 14 letting the Senators go up 5-1 late in the game with their second power play goal. Michael Sdao was credited with the goal for his first of the season. The power play was a result of Josh Brittain boarding a Senator and receiving a 5 minute major and then fighting Hugh Jessiman. From the bench Bodie had something to say about the officiating and he got a 10 minute misconduct. Chris Wagner got so frustrated that he fought a guy for no real reason. John Kurtz finished off the penalty minutes when he fought Ben Blood after Kurtz charged a guy with just nine seconds left.
**********
The Good: The only good that came from this loss is that the Admirals got angry at themselves and showed it with the penalty minutes they racked up. A losing team just takes the loss.
The Bad: Frederik Andersen earned a night off for the previous game but I think it broke him.
The Ugly: The Admirals had 43 shots on net and only scored one goal making Lawson look like an all-star.
**********
3rd Icehole: Patrick Maroon - After a good stint in Anaheim he finished a minus-2 with 3 shots on net and 2 PIMs
2nd Icehole: Frederik Andersen - I don't watch the away games, they are pay-per-view with terrible quality for those who do not know, but he seemed to struggle a bit tonight.
1st Icehole: Josh Brittain - He pretty much ended all hope for a comeback after taking that boarding major, he was also minus-1 with 2 shots.
Next Game: Tuesday, March 19th at 7:15pm ET vs. Adirondack
