Final Score: Admirals 3, Phantoms 0
First Period Recap: After a terrible game the night before the Admirals decided to have one hell of a bounce back game against one of the worst teams in the league. The Admirals out-shot, out-scored and physically dominated the Phantoms all night.
Kyle Wilson started the scoring 6:05 into the period with Ryan Parent and Devante Smith-Pelly getting the assists. A minute later, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond finally got the fight he wanted in the previous game against Zack Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald started off the fight by punching Leblond before he could turn around and then PL3 quickly KO'd Zack.
With 7:07 left, DSP scored his 9th of the season after an awesome forecheck and Patrick Maroon being showing his super human strength below the goal line to get a pass to DSP; John Kurtz received the second assist. The Admirals had 21 shots to the Phantoms 8 and Norfolk went 0-for-2 on the power play.
Second Period Recap: The second period was more of a defensive one for the Admirals with them only getting off 8 shots and having to kill 3 penalties including a 5-on-3. The penalty kill did awesome tonight clogging up the passing lanes and blocking shots. Overall the defense was a total opposite of what was on the ice the previous night. Neither team scored in the second and the Admirals went 0-for-2 on the power play.
Third Period Recap: The final twenty minutes were pretty boring and felt like it took forever. Both teams had one power play and they couldn't convert. The Admirals went 0-for-6 on the PP and the Phantoms went 0-for-4. Sami Vatanen however finally pass Peter Holland for the team points lead when he scored 12:38 into the period to put the Admirals up 3-0. Maroon and Wilson both had multi-point nights as they got the assists.
**********
The Good: The Admirals came out to play and treated the Phantoms like the terrible team they are.
The Bad: Not scoring on the power play is pretty weak but Norfolk really hasn't been strong there all season.
The Ugly: Every home team in the AHL tonight shutout the road team, that is pretty ugly.
