Admirals Get Ahead Early, Collapse Late

The Admirals gave up two goals in the final 2:33 of regulation to lose 3-2.

Final Score: Norfolk 2, Hershey 3

First Period Recap: The Norfolk Admirals started fast scoring just 3:20 into the first period on Saturday night. Josh Brittain got his 8th goal of the season after a referee review. It was described as his shot was going across the crease and barely going by the goal line before a Hershey player quickly knocked it back out of the net. Dan Sexton and Matt Smaby got the assists on the opening goal. The rest of the period flew by with no penalties or other scores happening. The Admirals out-shot the Bears 10-6.

Second Period Recap: The Bears responded in the second period however scoring an even strength goal 1:53 into the frame. Garrett Mitchell netted his 11th goal of the season with Ryan Stoa and Cameron Schilling getting the assists. The Admirals killed off their only power play chance in the period and couldn't beat Philipp Grubauer on their only power play. The Bears out-shot the Admirals 12 to 5.

Third Period Recap: The final period started off like the previous two with an early goal. Troy Bodie scored his third of the season after 2:32 of play and put the Admirals up 2-1. Josh Brittain and Sami Vatanen earned the assists. The point bumped Vatanen up to number two on the team in scoring. The Admirals killed off two penalties over the next fifteen minutes. With under three minutes to play, Stoa scored his second point of the night. In the final minute, Igor Bobkov did his uncontrollable rebound routine and Ryan Potulny scored his 12 of the season with Boyd Kane and Patrick McNeil getting the assists on the game winning goal.

The Good: The Admirals had a good first period for once.

The Bad: Pretty much all the teams ahead and around the Admirals won tonight.

The Ugly: Two goals in the last three minutes of play is pretty terrible.
