Final Score: Admirals 2, Senators 0

First Period Recap: The Norfolk Admirals played a different game tonight choosing to go with a defense-first strategy. They gave up 11 shots in the first 20 minutes but managed to get 10 off of their own. Both teams had chances on the power play but the Admirals penalty kill was outstanding again tonight. With about four minutes left in the period Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond dropped the gloves with Michael Sdao, PL3 easily won the decision.

Second Period Recap: Just over a minute into the period John Kurtz engaged in fisticuffs with Fredrik Claesson and earned another win in the fight column for Norfolk. The Admirals gave up a few more shots to the Senators letting them get off 14 and the Ads only getting 10 again. Rookie Frederik Andersen made some crazy saves including one where he was laying down with no stick but made a save with his hands. Norfolk had three man advantages but goalie Marc Cheverie was also having a pretty good game for Binghamton.

Third Period Recap: The final twenty minutes is where the Admirals had success for once. Three minutes in, Admirals newcomer Harry Zolnierczyk scored his tenth goal of the season after he put in a rebound from a Nate Guenin shot. Gabe Geuntzel also had an assist on the goal. Then while short-handed, Patrick Maroon, named Admirals MVP prior to the game, got a 1-on-1 chance and put the puck between the legs of Cheverie as he went side to side. Maroon now has 23 goals and Frederik Andersen picked up his 5th assist on the year. With under a minute to go Bingo pulled their goalie and Rod Pelley shot the puck from his own end and scored for his third goal of the season.

The Good: The Hershey Bears lost to Syracuse tonight so the Admirals are tied for 8th place but Hershey has a game in hand. Hershey takes on the WBS Penguins Sunday, so everyone be a Penguins fan just for one game!

The Bad: There was no bad tonight. The team played great defense, Andersen did what he has been doing all season, and the penalty kill just keeps killing.

The Ugly: Sdao's face was pretty ugly from what I heard from all the fans on the opposite side of the arena, they said he had multiple cuts from his fight with PL3.

Most Valuable Ducklings:

3rd MVD: Patrick Maroon - He keeps putting the puck in the net so it makes up for some of the times he decides to take an easy shift.

2nd MVD: Harry Zolnierczyk - Ever since he has joined the team earlier this week he has been fun to watch and it finally paid off with a goal. He's had scoring chances all 3 games this week and plays with a lot of energy.

1st MVD: Frederik Andersen - He earned his 4th shutout of the season, his second in four games, and they have both been against the top division teams. His stats for the season are now 2.08 GAA and a .932 save percentage.

Next Game: Friday, April 12th at 7:30pm at Worcester Sharks
