Trigger finally pulled: Bobby Ryan Traded To Ottawa For Silfverberg, Noesen, 1st Round Pick

The rumors had been going on for years and now it's finally happened. Bobby Ryan is no longer an Anaheim Duck.

Victor Decolongon

This is a huge day for the Anaheim Ducks organization.

The rumors had been relentless. The arguments for and against have been spread over years and now it's actually happened. The Anaheim Ducks have traded Bobby Ryan to the Ottawa Senators for forwards Jakob Silfverberg, Stefan Noesen and a first round pick.

Ryan had an unremarkable year last year. He couldn't recover the magic once found with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. He'd become increasingly more sensitive to the rumors of his being moved. The scoring streaks were plentiful.

Speaking strictly as a fan for a second, the trade is numbing but not surprising. I don't have the same gut-punch feeling I had when Teemu Selanne was to San Jose. Bobby had every chance to succeed here and in the end he was his own worst enemy. Blame it on consistency, coaching, whatever, his ability that got him drafted at No. 2 overall in the NHL is what should have brought him over the hump. He signed his own ticket out of town the day he did the drunken interview on the golf course with the Philadelphia newspaper, it was just a matter of finding the right return.

This is an emotional time for some Ducks fans. Please be considerate of each other's feelings toward the trade. I'll add more info to this page as I write it.

Not sure how I feel about this quote. Run his course at 25?
