Bowman: I've decided to start posting a stat I will call Bowman, after coach Scotty Bowman. On the last broadcast, Hazy mentioned it and I think it's worth looking at as a good indicator of a team's proficiency on special teams overall. This is important because in the modern NHL, so much can be won and lost on special teams, so they're worth keeping a close eye on. It's pretty simple to figure out: add together a team's power play and penalty kill percentages. On average, it should hit just around 100. Anything higher is in pretty good shape, anything lower needs work.
Ducks: 95.5, 25th in NHL. Oilers: 98.1, 18th in NHL.
