Nucks at Ducks GameThread: The Battle of the Big Bucks (as in Money)

New, comments

While we see Anaheim boasting more depth now than in previous years, the team is still fairly top-heavy in terms of the majority of its production. Vancouver is the same way, adding to it that three of their forwards play defensemen-like minutes. Ergo the Battle of the Big Bucks!

Numbers for Nerds: Anaheim has 206 Man Games Lost reported as of today, behind only Pittsburgh at 243 MGL. This number includes the long-term Sheldon Souray injury (remember him?) as well as Luca Sbisa and Viktor Fasth. (I believe the number was 202 MGL a game ago, which makes me wonder if a "healthy scratch" on Friday wasn’t actually sat for an undisclosed ache.) Vancouver has 124 MGL as of today. (Numbers courtesy of http://www.mangameslost.com)

Team Records: Ducks (30-8-5), Canucks (23-13-7) including their loss to the Kings last night LA 3-VAN 1. Ducks vs Canucks in 2013-14 (1-0-0).

Team Leaders: Ducks points leaders – Ryan Getzlaf (20g + 27a = 47p), Corey Perry (22g + 21a = 43g), Nick Bonino (11g + 17a = 28p), Cam Fowler the American Hero (4g + 22a = 26p), Andrew Cogliano (13g + 12a = 25p).
Canucks points leaders – Daniel Sedin (13g + 23a = 36p), Henrik Sedin (9g + 27a = 36p), Ryan Kesler the Legendary American (16g + 12a = 28p), Mike Santorelli (9g + 18a = 27p), Chris Higgins (11g + 12a = 23p).

Goalies: Starters should be – Jonas Hiller (19-4-4, 2.40 GAA, .913 SV%) vs Eddie Lack (7-3-1, 2.02 GAA, .924 SV%).

Power Play: Ducks rank 26, 14.1 PP%. Canucks rank 23, 14.8 PP%.

Penalty Kill: Ducks rank 19, 81.0 PK%. Canucks rank 1, 89.4 PK%.

Also: Congrats to Andrew Cogliano! Cogs signed an extensions yesterday that will see him play for four more years at approximately $3 million per. It is friendly to player and team and is a good depth signing.
