Numbers For Nerds

Edmonton has had the number one overall draft pick in four of the last six years, and hasn't picked outside the top ten since 2008 when they drafted Jordan Eberle 22nd overall. Since 1963 when the amateur draft was instituted, only the Quebec Nordiques from 1989-1991 had the top pick for three straight seasons (drafting Mats Sundin, Owen Nolan, and Eric Lindros) before the Oilers did so (drafting Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nail Yakupov) from 2010-2012.
