Game 2 doesn’t get any easier for the Ducks. They face-off against the 2016 Stanley Cup champs at home coming off a big shootout win against their rival Caps. The Ducks look to rebound after a 4-2 opening night loss to Dallas with plenty to focus on improving. The powerplay somehow managed to look even worse than last year, with Kevin Bieksa getting regular minutes (it’s almost like we are missing someone important back there...). The Ducks are going to have to play a strong defensive game with a lot of help from hometown boy John Gibson to shut down the likes of Evgeni Malkin and STANLEY CUP CHAMPION PHIL KESSEL. The Ducks do manage to catch a break as it looks like Sidney Crosby will still not be ready to go following a concussion he suffered in practice earlier this week. Speaking of injuries, former Penguin Simon Despres left during the second period in Thursday night’s game against Dallas.

Does this mean we will be graced with a Stoner season debut? I was really hoping that we’d at least make it through October before we’d have to see him inserted into the lineup. Hopefully, Jacob Larsson will step up and seize this opportunity for more ice time (OR MAYBE IT’S TIME FOR ANOTHER SWEDE TO COME BACK).
