It's been a weird and winding path that has led me here to this moment. My name is Namiko, and I'm a New Yorker by birth, a Canadian by wishful thinking, and a Canadiens fan by "upbringing". So what am I doing here? It's because I love the Utah Grizzlies. In fact, I've loved the Grizzlies longer than I've loved the Habs, and longer than the Grizzlies have been the ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks.
Due to a weird set of circumstances, I moved to Utah this summer, and was offered the opportunity to cover the Grizzlies, which naturally, I jumped at immediately. Because I've been a fan of the Grizzlies for so long, I've ended up following the Ducks too, just to keep an eye on where some of these players might one day end up. I'm also a writer and editor for Anaheim Calling's sister site, Habs Eyes on the Prize, so when I got this chance, it seemed like a natural choice to join the site.
So what does this all mean? It means I'll be writing a weekly review of the Ducks prospects playing for the Grizzlies, and maybe I'll even get a few interviews!
Grizzlies training camp begins on Sunday, October 8th, and runs until the 12th. Their first game of the season is October 14th, when they will open at home against the Idaho Steelheads.
