Have they been conducting misguided top secret experiments up in the far north? Because someone seems to have opened a portal to the Upside Down and allowed this ‘other’ Oiler squad through to our world to terrorize the Pacific. Much like the period in which the show that this reference refers to is set - this Oilers team are playing like their 80’s counterparts.

Led by a similar messiah-like player with just two digits difference in his number this Oilers team are doing all that they can to prove they are the real deal. McDavid leads the league in assists and is fourth in points. Matching up the Kesler line against him means the Ducks other top lines will need to carry their own against the likes of Lucic and Draisitl or Pouliot and Nugent-Hopkins.

The Ducks are coming off a very deflating 5-0 drubbing at the hands of the Predators but are back home to familiar surroundings with a full and healthy (apart from the LTIR folks of course) roster.

It would be nice to scratch Boll for someone faster for this game but I get the feeling he stays in to keep Lucic/The Demogorgon in check. It’s a forgone conclusion that the Ducks will likely give up 5-6 powerplays this game and if the Oilers manage to get setup in front - our old pal Maroon is going to be spending a lot of time catching up with Gibby in front of the Ducks net.

Hopefully Rickard Rakell/Eleven can use his physic powers to overcome both Lucic and Hockey Jesus. The 23 year old Swede is a point per game and is tied for the team lead in game winners with Silfverberg. He also leads the team in shooting percentage and also being just awesome in general.

Fun Fact: That Maroon Trade? The Ducks acquired Martin Gernat (who?) the 23 year old Slovakian defence man played five games for the Gulls last season then promptly skipped for the KHL. The Ducks also acquired a fourth round pick in the 2016 NHL draft and they used that to select Jack Kopacka 93rd overall. He currently has 5 points in 17 games with Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. So yea awesome trade for Bob there.
