Your Enemy: Pensburgh

The Ducks made more than a statement in their first game back after a demoralizing loss to Columbus at home. Beating the Kings in a more than literal sense of the word and handing our friends north of the highway their third straight shutout loss. But now the question remains - can the Ducks put together the back-to-back wins that they couldn’t a week ago?

Tonight, they face that test head on with the Penguins in town. The Steel City birds have enjoyed a 6-2-1 record to start the season despite Crosby missing the first few games. They sit tied for 2nd in the Metro with their rivals the Capitals at 13 points. They are coming off a high scoring win over the Flyers - taking it 5-4 where both Crosby and Malkin both got two goals each. Anaheim will need to shutdown both Crosby and Malkin lines or hope that one just has an off night if they hope to beat this Pens squad.

The Penguins are currently ranked 13th in Goals For with 24 and are 4th in the league on the Power Play - at 26.5%. Malkin leads the team in points with 10 while Phil Kessel is just one point behind and Crosby already has 5 points in just 3 games.

The last time the Ducks faced the Penguins earlier in the season it was a closer game than past “Ducks @ Penguins” encounters but they still came away with a 3-2 loss after some rusty and weak defensive plays that lead to easy Pittsburgh goals. Hopefully a few more games under their collective belts is all Anaheim needs to beat the Penguins.
