With the 30th overall pick in the draft the Anaheim Ducks selected center Sam Steel of the Regina Pats.
Steel is coming off a solid 17-year-old season in the WHL as he scored 23 goals and tallied 70 points in 72 regular season games. Steel followed that up with six goals and 16 points in 12 playoff games.
Steel’s strengths are a strong two-way game, good playmaking skills and skating ability.
If he pans out he could be a good middle-6 center capable of playing on both special teams units.
