2016 NHL Draft: Anaheim Ducks Select Alex Dostie 115th Overall (4th Round)

New, comment

The Ducks have selected the diminutive center, born in Drummondville, QC.

Alex Dostie

With their second-fourth round pick (115th overall), the Ducks have selected Alex Dostie, a center from the QMJHL's Gatineau Olympiques.

The left-handed center was ranked #192 among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, so he has been selected quite a bit higher than originally anticipated. He is small, at 5'10 and 172 lbs, and has been compared to Mathieu Perreault (hopefully, Ducks fans won't be making jokes about AD's Money down the line...). Both skaters are from Drummondville, and played for the Magog Cantonniers during their Midget AAA years. However, Dostie is slightly bashful about the comparison, and personally models his game after Tampa Bay's Tyler Johnson.

Dostie is a fast, offensively talented skater. He has a lot of hustle, and is willing to use his speed to get to the net for loose pucks.

Dostie played 54 games and had 25 goals and 48 assists (73 points) with Gatineau during the 2015-16 season.
