Anaheim Calling: Back from the Dead

Some of our readers have been wondering where we’ve been the last couple of months. Anaheim Calling’s new managing editor is here to explain.

Dear Anaheim Calling fans-

We here at Anaheim Calling are excited to say that we are officially back from our ~2-month hiatus. A lot has changed since the end of last season so I’m here to update y’all on everything Anaheim Calling.

Starting at the end of last season, Eric Evelhoch(managing editor) and Kyle Nicolas (assistant editor) both stepped down from AC to pursue new opportunities with UCSB hockey (check them out at, they’re doing some really cool stuff). After that, Todd Cordell was brought on as our new editor. You would have seen a lot of his work at the start of free agency this past summer. However, Todd stepped down in mid-July and so we were again without an editor. This coupled with a lack of anything major happening with the Ducks and some other writers leaving to pursue new opportunities meant that nothing was being published on the site. Now this has all been resolved and we can start fresh for the 2016-2017 NHL season.

Now you might be asking yourself “Okay, but who is running Anaheim Calling now?” Well, my name is JC McDonough and I am the new Managing Editor of Anaheim Calling. I joined AC at the beginning of last season as a staff writer and am very excited for this new opportunity as editor. I really look forward to engaging with our readers and continuing to produce excellent content for all of you to enjoy. If you would like to learn more about myself, you can check out my intro article from last year as well as follow me on Twitter.

Finally, I’d like to talk about what’s on the horizon for Anaheim Calling. With the new season just around the corner, we are working diligently to be ready for game 1 against the Stars. This season you can look forward to the usual game previews, recaps, and our “Best and Worst” articles as well as timely coverage and analysis of any and all Ducks news including “Duck Tales.” Anaheim Calling: The Podcast will also make its return in October with brand new hosts.

All of this is really exciting and I can’t wait for the season to start, but there is one more thing I need to ask of all you Anaheim Calling readers out there. With the passing of the torch and other people leaving, we here at Anaheim Calling are looking to add some new blood to our ranks. I encourage anyone that is even mildly interested in writing for AC click here and fill out the quick application. There are no requirements to apply other than a passion for our Ducks.

Thank you all so much for your time and support.

JC McDonough

Anaheim Calling Managing Editor

P.S. A huge thank you to everyone who helped us through the last few months including (but not limited to) Travis Hughes, Todd Cordell, Lois, Eric Evelhoch, and Kyle Nicolas.
