In a corresponding move, the team also announced that forward Giovanni Fiore, who made the roster out of camp as a rookie, has been sent back to San Diego.
Kerdiles, an Irvine native, made his NHL debut with the Ducks in one regular season game last year. Additionally, he played in 4 postseason games with the club, generating an assist for his first NHL point.
Kerdiles has been relatively impressive in his time in San Diego, however, a series of injuries have kept him from reaching his potential as a 2nd round (36th overall) draft pick in 2012.
Kerdiles will likely assume Fiore’s role of being a 13th forward/4th line body until the Ducks offense becomes fully healthy. This transaction could mean that forward Nick Ritchie is ready to return to the lineup for tonight’s game against the Colorado Avalanche, but it appears that we will have to wait until warm-ups to know for sure.
