Numbers for Nerds

Dealing with a serious shortage on the blue line, the Ducks recalled 24-year old Jaycob Megna from the San Diego Gulls today. Here are some fun facts and numbers about the new kid....

The 6-foot-6 Megna was born in Florida but actually grew up about 45 minutes north of Chicago. So this will be a fun game for him. Hockey's Future describes Megna as "big defenseman who plays a quite defensive game." He's learned his role as a stay-at-home shutdown defenseman who is defense-first minded. In 60 games with the Gulls, Megna has earned 27 points (5G-22A) and 37 penalty minutes this season along with an AHL-best +33 rating.
