Ritchie Suspended

Anaheim’s young grit went too far last night and pays the price

NHL: Edmonton Oilers at Anaheim Ducks Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Early in the third period of last night’s game against the ‘Hawks, Nick Ritchie got into a scrap with Chicago’s Michael Rozsival after taking exception to Rozsival’s crosscheck of Ducks forward Corey Perry. Ritchie “sucker-punched” Rozsival before he could drop his gloves and was given a match penalty. After a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, Ritchie was assessed a two-game suspension. Ritchie will miss Anaheim’s final regular season game against the LA Kings this Sunday as well as Game 1 of Anaheim’s first round playoff series. The official DoPS video is embedded below.
