ANA claims JT Brown— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) January 14, 2018
Brown hasn’t contributed much offensively to a juggernaut Lightning team this season with just 4 points (1G, 3A), but has solid on-ice shot metrics with a 49.23 CF% and indications that he could be due for a bit more scoring with a 41.67 GF% compared to an xGF% of 53.79.
Brown will likely slot into the Ducks 4th line to replace Logan Shaw who was put on waiver to clear a spot on the roster.
Brown currently is in the final year of a 2-year deal with the Lightning at a cap hit of $1.25 million (per capfriendly.com). However, due to the way the cap is calculated, the Ducks will only have roughly $500,000 of that hit their books while shedding almost $300,000 left on Logan Shaw’s contract, leading to only a roughly $200,000 increase in Anaheim’s cap situation.
