It was announced this morning that the Anaheim Ducks have claimed left-winger, Pontus Åberg, from the Edmonton Oilers via waivers.

Selected by the Predators in the second round of the 2012 NHL Draft, the Sweden native was acquired by the Oilers on February 25th, 2018 where had eight points (two goals, six assists) in 16 games totaling his 2017-2018 season with sixteen points (four goals, twelve assists) in 53 games.
Per Eric Stephens of the Athletic, the 24 year old forward will immediately join the team for opening night on Wednesday thus further cementing the Ducks lovable nickname, “Swedenheim”.
Other than playing for Nashville and making an impact during Game 5 of the 2016-2017 Western Conference Final where he scored the game-winning goal, he hasn’t had much success.
OTHER NOTES
It was also reported late last night that the Ducks have terminated the contract of Anton Rodin who will be heading back overseas after not making the big team out of camp. Anton, we hardly knew ye.
