Olympic Hockey: USA vs Czech Republic Game Information & Open Thread

The US men, led in a big way by Ducks’ Prospect Troy Terry, will face Jiri Sekac and the Czech Republic in the Quarterfinals of the Olympics

Olympics: Ice Hockey-Men Team Group B - USA-SVK Andrew Nelles-USA TODAY Sports

The US men defeated Slovakia 5-1 in last night’s elimination game. They were led by Anaheim Ducks’ prospect Troy Terry, who had a 3-assist night in the victory over Slovakia and overall in the tournament. The US men have scored a total of 9 goals and Terry has played a part in 4 of those 9 goals. The line of him, Mark Arcobello, and Ryan Donato has easily been the most dangerous line for the US and the team seems to go as that line goes.

As a result of this victory the US have secured a birth into the quarterfinals against the Czech Republic tonight. The Czech Republic team is one of the better teams in the tournament, going 2-1-0-0 in group play and finishing first in a group with Canada, Switzerland, and Canada. They have a few names that will be familiar to Ducks fans and people that have followed the NHL at large like: Jiri Sekac (Played for the Ducks, Canadiens, Coyotes, and Blackhawks), Martin Erat (Played for the Predators, Caps, and Coyotes),and Michal Jordan (Played for the Hurricanes).

The winner of this game will advance to the semifinals of the tournament to play the winner of the Olympic Athletes from Russia and Norway on Thursday
