Ritchie went after the Sabres forward after an apparent exchange of words, after which the Ducks forward took exception and committed the penalty, also tangling with goaltender Linus Ullmark. The minor penalty was assessed at 15:57 in the second period.
Ritchie has eight PIM this season, and has generally struggled with staying out of the box for his entire career to this point. In a new season where head coach Dallas Eakins is attempting to cut out needless penalties, the 23-year-old power forward is still trying to reign in his discipline issues.
