The Anaheim Ducks (11-11-4) are back home to take on the Winnipeg Jets (15-9-1) in a Black Friday matinee. Winnipeg blasted the San Jose Sharks 5-1 on Wednesday and are hoping to avenge a 7-4 loss in Anaheim back on October 29.
The Ducks dropped Wednesday’s game at Arizona 4-3 in a shootout, but there were some encouraging signs including a late goal by Troy Terry.
Players to Watch
Nikolaj Ehlers may not be the most heralded of the Jets, but he is on a hot streak recently with four goals in his last six appearances. For the Ducks, Ryan Getzlaf has a six-game point streak with two markers and six helpers over that stretch.
Keys to the Game
The Jets are 9-4 on the road this season and have been victorious in six of their last seven away from Bell MTS Place. Anaheim managed to beat them last month after falling behind 2-1 thanks to four goals in the second period, but they can’t count on winning if they don’t play tougher defense at the outset.
Connor Hellebuyck is having a nice season so far with a .930 save percentage compared to .913 last season. However, he does face a fairly high shot volume and had to make 37 saves against the Sharks. It’s never a bad idea to force him to make saves rather than look for the perfect pass that may never materialize.
