On Sunday afternoon the Anaheim Ducks traded defenceman Brandon Montour to the Sabres in exchange for a first round pick and prospect Brendan Guhle.
The pick going to the Ducks will not be the Buffalo Sabres first round pick though, it will be either St. Louis’ or San Jose’s first rounder.
Conditional pick details in Montour deal: #Ducks receive SJS 1st pick, or they have the option to select STL’s pick if it’s between #20 - #31.

Brendan Guhle, on the other hand, was a second round pick, 51st overall in the 2015 entry draft. He is in his second full season with the Rochester Americans of the AHL and has a combined 59 points in 112 AHL games, while adding five helpers in 23 NHL games for the Sabres.

Montour’s ice time has steadily dropped under Interim Head Coach Bob Murray and a move such as this seemed inevitable.
The NHL Trade deadline is set for 12 pm PST tomorrow (Feb. 25) so strap in and enjoy the next few hours!
