The Anaheim Ducks have been nominated for the Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year presented by ESPN for their investment within their own community programs and their support of a wide variety of nonprofits with funds and in-kind donations.

The Sports Humanitarian of the Year Awards, will celebrate and honor leagues, teams, individuals and members of the sporting community that are using the power of sport to make a positive impact on society. The sports industry-wide event will take place at L.A. Live’s The Novo, Tuesday, July 9.

As a whole, the Ducks have been heavily involved in their market, spear-heading a number of initiatives that have spurred on the growth of the sport in Southern California. Notable charitable events like the Children’s Hospital of Orange County Night at Honda Center have also been a major success. Owners Henry and Susan Samueli have made it a priority to involve the franchise in the local community.
