Overseas Update: Hunter Drew has a big game in Slovakia

In September, the Anaheim Ducks loaned defensive prospect Hunter Drew to Slovakian club HC Banska Bystrica, in order to get the 21-year-old prospect some playing time during the Ducks’ extended off-season. Drew was drafted by the Ducks in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Draft, out of the Charlottetown Islanders.

Since joining the Slovakian league, Drew has put up five goals and 10 points in his first nine games with Banska Bystrica. He leads the team in goals and points, as well as ranking second in assists (first among defenders). Among all league defenders, he ranks second in points.

Before you get too excited, half of those points came in one game from Drew. He scored four goals on Sunday (you know what they call that in San Jose) and tallied an assist in a game against HK Dukla Michalovce.

Bystrica is currently 10th overall in league standings, with a 3-7-1 record.
