Two teams are facing elimination in today’s NHL playoff games.

In the early matchup, the Philadelphia Flyers will try and keep their season alive when they take on the New York Islanders in Game 5 of their series. Jean Gabriel Pageau scored the winner 7:18 in the third period, while Brock Nelson chipped in with two goals leading the Islanders to a 3-2 win in Game 4 to take a 3-1 series lead. New York goaltender Thomas Greiss kept the Flyers at bay, making 36 saves to preserve the victory.

Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, the upstart Vancouver Canucks will look to bounce back with a win in Game 5 of their series against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The Canucks held a 3-2 lead in the third period, but the Knights came back with a vengeance scoring three times to go on to a 5-3 win. Vegas leads the series 3-1, and has Vancouver on the brink. The Canucks will need a stronger effort from goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who looked shaky in the second of back-to-back games. The Golden Knights are simply the deeper, and better team. Head coach Peter DeBoer is rolling four lines, and giving Vancouver fits. If the Canucks want to keep their season going, they’ll need another big game from youngsters Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes.
