Bye-Bye Big Sexy, Ducks Trade Sexton to Lightning for Kyle Wilson

Per Michael Russo of the Minnesota Star Tribune the Anaheim Ducks traded forward Dan Sexton to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Kyle Wilson (confirmed by Ducks).

Sexton, out of Bowling Green University, has been in the Ducks system since he signed as a free agent in April of 2009.

Big Sexy played at the NHL two times while under contract with the Ducks. In the 2009-2010 season, he played in 41 games and scored 9-10=19. When not with the Ducks he was playing for the Manitoba Moose (13 GP, 5-7=12) in the AHL and the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL (18 GP, 13-13=26).

The following 2010-11 season, he appeared in 47 games for the Ducks, while also splitting time with the Ducks new affiliate the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. With the Ducks he played in 14 games and was 4-9=13; conversely in 17 games with Syracuse, he played in 17 games with 9G, 8A. The Ducks did bring him up on the extended playoff roster and he appeared in one game where he did nothing. I think this was the season he was called up and sent down about a billion times.

The frequent flyer miles he acquired turned into a two year contract extension, (to avoid arbitration) set to expire at the end of this season and he will be a restricted free agent.

In 2011-2012, he never made it up to the big show, sticking with Syracuse the whole season. In 71 GP, he scored 13 goals and added 30 assists.

Up until today, Sexton had joined other Ducks prospects on Anaheim's current AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. Sexton has appeared in 27 games, scoring 5 goals and 11 assists.
